Project title: Emergent Phenomena at domain walls in halide perovskites
Supervisors: Dr Nick Bristowe and Prof Peter Haynes
Project description:
The perovskite structure often lends to interesting and useful electornic properties. Current applications include photovoltaics and those related to ferroelectricity such as capacitors and logic devices. In particular, distortions of the structure and planar defects within the material can lead to novel and improved functionalities. I use first principles methods to simulate and predict the effect of such defects on the perovskite structure. The work being carried out here has the potential for helping better understand how one may enhance photovoltaic device efficiency.
